Angelina Quic Ixtamer was born in San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala. As the first woman in her village to paint with oils, she faced severe criticism as artistic painting was regarded as exclusive to men. She ignored her detractors and persevered, eventually creating her signature style, ‘vista de pájaro’, or, ‘bird’s eye view.’
